If you have multiple authors on your blog and you want to track the best performer with Google Analytics then you should stay on this post till end. In this post, today I will show you how to set up author tracking in WordPress with MonsterInsights.
Install MonsterInsights WordPress Plugin
The first thing you have to do is to install the MonsterInsights WordPress plugin. Once you install, you will get reports about the pageviews, bounce rate, and the most popular author of your blog and many more.
Set up Author Tracking With MonsterInsights
After installing MonsterInsights on your site, go to Insights > Addons and activate "Dimensions" Addon.
You have to connect Google Analytics to WordPress.
Note: You need a MonsterInsights PRO license for setting up author tracking.
After doing go to Tracking > Custom Dimentions and click on add new custom dimension.
Now you will see a drop down option you have to select "Author" in that drop down option and save changes.
You can now head over to Google Analytics > Admin > Custom Definations > Custom Dimensions as shown in the below image:
Now click on 'New Custom Dimensions" and enter "Author" in name field and leave settings as it is just save it.
Note: If the Custom Dimension ID is different in MonsterInsights while creating custom dimensions then you have to enter the same ID in Google Analytics.
Now, you need to add custom report in your Google Analytics account to track the authors. In Google Analytics, you’ll need to go to Customization > Custom Reports from the left menu.
You’ll need to add Author in the Dimension Drilldowns and add whatever metric you wants to see click on the Save button.
Now, you will be able to track the performance of the authors with pageviews and bounce rate.
